6 New Dungeon Terrain Tiles From Glue Stick Terrain
The Glue Stick Terrain designers have created the first set of dungeon terrain tiles. They delivered six modular printed terrain tiles so you can build dungeon rooms.
They come in both gridless and gridded styles. Built on a 3X3 module size, they fit together into an almost limitless number of combinations.
Half-inch low-profile walls are easy to see and yet don’t interfere with play.
GST Terrain Tiles, The Printable Modular RPG Terrain
Each dungeon terrain tile is a separate PDF printable kit. So you can print as many modular tiles as you need.
I used my inkjet printer and full-page stickers to build my printed tiles. But you could have them laser printed at a copy shop on photo-grade paper. Then glue them to the backer board.
I like the printable kits because I would rather play the game than paint tiles. Plus, they look like Virtual Tabletop Terrain. In addition, they work well with the other Glue Stick Terrain low-profile pieces.
Nanos gigantum humeris insidentes
Our designers stood on the shoulders of the giants who went before us.
DM Scotty gave us the 2.5D terrain concept, which we have used to create low-profile terrain. DMGinfo created an elegant 3×3 modular tile system which we have adopted. And AJ Pickett showed us how anyone could make better-looking tiles with very little work by printing them.
We created simple PDF printable kits so you can quickly produce the tiles you need. Plus, we are creating a complete set of building blocks that don’t hamper your imagination.
Glue Stick Terrain Stores And Travels Easily
The designers even thought about storage and game style.
The convenient 3X3 module size means you can easily stash them in a zip lock bag. Or you can store them in three-ring binders using a keeper pouch.
They are sturdy enough when you back them with corrugated paper. But you can also step up your style if you back them with a foamcore board.
Like all other Glue Stick Terrain, modular dungeon terrain tiles are available as a free download in the store.
3×3 Dungeon Center Entrance
The Glue Stick Terrain 3×3 Low Profile Dungeon Center Entrance tile is a seamless pattern that creates an entry in the middle of a wall.
You can create space on either side of the opening to conceal things like treasure and traps.
It also makes a grand entrance into a tomb or throne room.
3X3 Dungeon Corner
The Glue Stick Terrain 3×3 Low Profile Dungeon Corner tile lets you create the corner of a dungeon room.
You can use it to make small rooms like a little apartment.
Also, combine it with other tiles to create a vast hall.
However you use it, it will always enclose your encounter.
3X3 Dungeon Floor
The 3X3 Low Profile Dungeon Floor tile is a seamless pattern that lets you create sections of the dungeon floor.
You can combine them to make medium and large dungeon rooms.
Plus, you can match them with other dungeon tiles to create irregularly shaped spaces. Perhaps you need a large L-shaped space or a long narrow hall.
The modular design lets you easily create the encounter space you need.
3X3 Dungeon Left Entrance
The Glue Stick Terrain 3X3 Low Profile Dungeon Left Entrance tile creates an entry in the lefthand corner of a room.
You can use it to create mazes, traps, and other irregular rooms.
Perhaps you will use a secret door to conceal a hidden passage hiding in plain sight.
3X3 Dungeon Right Entrance
The 3X3 Low Profile Dungeon Right Entrance tile creates an entry in the righthand corner of a room.
You can make a simple passthrough for a larger room when you combine it with a 3×3 Left Dungeon Entrance.
Then again, you might use it to corner players when they enter a room, giving the NPCs an advantage.
3X3 Dungeon Wall
The 3X3 Low Profile Dungeon Wall tile adds sections to large walls.
DMs use it to build massive rooms.
It can also make long and narrow spaces as well as irregularly shaped halls.
Perhaps, you will use it to reveal an ornate pavilion long buried by the sands of time.
Final Thoughts
You can use GST dungeon terrain tiles to create an entire 30″x24″ map. I find it fits nicely on a tabletop. Moreover, it is slightly larger than most Virtual Tabletop maps.
I have also used a handful of tiles to stage a brief conflict on the way to the next significant encounter.
